We're back with another USA blog as part of our FIFA World Cup 26 series, and this week we're heading over to California.

Los Angeles was home to the incredible Spain vs Belgium showdown, which gives us the perfect excuse to talk about one of America's most famous cities (although, let's be honest, we never really need an excuse to talk about LA).

Because Los Angeles is one of those destinations that feels familiar before you've even arrived.

Hollywood. The palm trees. The Hollywood Sign. Beverly Hills. Santa Monica Pier.

You've probably seen it hundreds of times without even realising it. It's been the backdrop for countless films and TV shows, which means when many visitors finally arrive, there's this strange feeling that they've already been there before.

But here's the thing...

Los Angeles is probably one of the most misunderstood cities in America.

It isn't like New York, where you can walk out of your hotel and immediately find yourself surrounded by famous landmarks. It isn't like Las Vegas, where everything is concentrated along one famous Strip.

LA is SERIOUSLY spread out.

It’s less about trying to tick off every attraction, and more about driving with the roof down, stopping when something catches your eye, and being the lead in your own film.

Is LA Worth Visiting?

Absolutely.

But as travel agents, we probably wouldn't recommend it in exactly the same way we'd recommend New York or Las Vegas.

Instead, we think Los Angeles is one of the best additions to a bigger USA adventure.

A few nights before Las Vegas. A stop before Hawaii. The beginning of a California road trip. A stay before a cruise from Los Angeles.

It fits perfectly into a twin-centre or multi-centre holiday. Why not on it’s own? There’s just too much more incredible things to see and do in the area! And, with its location it just makes the perfect layover spot!

And rather than giving you another generic list of "top things to do in LA", we did what we always do. We picked the brains of someone who has actually been to understand what you ‘actually’ need to know about the City of Angels. So, we sat down with our experienced and highly incredible travel agent Tash for her advice. Read on for everything you need to know before booking a trip to LA.

First Things First: You Need a Car in Los Angeles

If you take one piece of advice from this entire blog, make it this.

Hire the car.

We know what you're thinking. "Can't I just use Uber?"

Technically, yes.

But Los Angeles is a city where having your own transport completely changes the experience. The distances are much bigger than people expect. Santa Monica to Hollywood might look close on a map, but depending on traffic, it can easily take 40 minutes to an hour. Malibu, Beverly Hills, Venice Beach and Downtown LA all have completely different vibes, and getting between them takes time.

See a viewpoint? Pull over.

Spot a beach you like? Go explore.

Driving along the coast and want to grab a coffee? No problem.

But, it’s not just about the destination, in LA it’s about the journey too (corny, we know!). Tash hired a convertible Mustang during her trip, and honestly, it sounds like the perfect LA experience. "We loved having the Mustang. Half the fun was just driving around with the roof down. We'd recognise places from films, stop somewhere random and just explore. It felt like part of the holiday rather than just getting from A to B."

Road Trip: Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive

Roof down. Music on. Wind in your hair exploring Beverly Hills. Such an LA thing to do, right?

Our mini road trip idea? Cruise through streets lined with palm trees. Check out some of the millionaires houses, where celebrities supposedly live. Then head to Rodeo Drive.

Even if luxury shopping isn't your thing, it's worth visiting just for the atmosphere. Think designer shops, perfectly maintained streets, expensive cars parked outside. It feels exactly how you'd expect Beverly Hills to feel.

And if you've watched Pretty Woman?

Well...

You can't visit Rodeo Drive without thinking about Vivian's famous shopping scene.

Also, can we just acknowledge that Pretty Woman is now over 35 years old? We're not sure how that happened.

Practical Car Hire Tips

Car hire in Los Angeles usually starts from around $45-$70 per day, depending on the season and vehicle type.
A convertible will naturally cost more, especially during peak summer months.
Parking is available at most attractions but is rarely free.
Expect to pay around $10-$30 for parking depending on where you are.
Always factor traffic into your plans. Google Maps saying "30 minutes" doesn't always mean 30 minutes in LA.

Where should you stay in Los Angeles?

Now, this is where we might surprise you. And, this is where we are using our actual travel agent experience (and not relying on the very generic ChatGPT).

Most first-time visitors immediately look at Hollywood hotels. And whilst Hollywood is iconic, it probably wouldn't be our first choice for a base.

If you came into our shop and asked where we'd stay in Los Angeles, we'd point you towards Santa Monica. This was exactly where Tash based herself, and it quickly became one of her favourite parts of the trip.

"It honestly felt like I was living in a TV show. We'd walk down to the beach in the evening, watch the sunset and just enjoy being there."

And we think that sums up Santa Monica perfectly.

It feels like the California you imagine. Golden beaches, palm trees, cyclists cruising along the promenade, outdoor restaurants and, the famous Santa Monica Pier.

It's relaxed, walkable and gives you somewhere enjoyable to come back to after a busy day exploring.

It's also home to the end of the famous Route 66, which is a fun little bucket-list moment for any road trip fan.

Is Hollywood Worth Visiting?

Yes.

But again, here’s where we differ from the likes of AI generated content, because we would suggest less time than your think.

Hollywood is one of those places that you simply have to see once. It would be a travesty to visit Los Angeles and not walk along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

We'd recommend spending a few hours ticking off the classics:

TCL Chinese Theatre
Dolby Theatre
Hollywood Sign viewpoints
Griffith Observatory (It’s free to visit, check out what’s on, on their official website )

But after you've taken your photos and soaked up the atmosphere, we'd probably head elsewhere.

Hollywood is famous, but it's also busy, crowded and not quite as glamorous as the films make it look.

Tash said exactly what many of our customers say after visiting. "I'm really glad we went because you have to see it, but I definitely preferred coming back to Santa Monica afterwards."

And honestly? We agree.

Hollywood is a must-do.

Just maybe not a must-stay.

Malibu: The Part of LA Where You Slow Down

If Hollywood feels busy and Santa Monica feels relaxed, Malibu takes things one step further. This is where you slow down.

The Pacific Coast Highway is one of the most enjoyable drives you can do around Los Angeles. The mistake many visitors make is trying to rush it. They drive straight to Malibu, take a photo and leave. We suggest slowing it down and taking your time. Stop at viewpoints, find quieter beaches, grab a coffee and simply watch the surfers.

Venice Beach: Quirky, Colourful and Completely Different

Venice Beach is one of those places where you arrive and immediately realise you've stepped into a completely different side of Los Angeles.

It's colourful, creative, and slightly chaotic. But, that’s exactly why people love it.

The promenade is packed with street performers, artists, skateboarders and people simply enjoying the California sunshine.

Then, of course, there's Muscle Beach. Yes, it is real, and yes, it is exactly what you imagine.

Now, you don’t need to plan on working out, it's one of those places where people watching becomes the attraction.

Santa Monica Pier: The Classic California Moment

You can’t visit Los Angeles for the first time and not head down to Santa Monica. The pier itself is free to walk around, but if you want to experience the rides, the famous Ferris wheel and arcade games, you’ll pay separately.

The Ferris wheel is iconic, but honestly, one of our favourite things to do here costs nothing at all — just walk along the beach, watch the surfers, grab an ice cream and enjoy that “I’m actually in California” feeling.

Why We'd Add Los Angeles to a Twin-Centre USA Holiday

This is probably our biggest piece of advice. Don't think of Los Angeles as the entire holiday. Think of it as one amazing part of the holiday.

Some of our favourite combinations include:

Los Angeles + Las Vegas - Probably the classic. Swap beaches and palm trees for bright lights, casinos and entertainment.
Los Angeles + Hawaii - Spend a few days exploring California before flying onwards to paradise.
California Road Trip - Start in LA and explore places like Santa Barbara, San Francisco and San Diego.
Los Angeles Cruise - Many cruises depart from the Port of Los Angeles, making it a great place to add a few nights before sailing.

Should You Add Universal Studios Hollywood?

Now, depending on who you’re travelling with, this one could easily become the highlight of your LA trip.

Universal Studios Hollywood is not just a theme park. It’s part theme park, part movie studio experience, and honestly, it feels very fitting being in the heart of Hollywood.

Unlike Universal Orlando, where the parks are much bigger and spread over multiple days, Universal Studios Hollywood is much more manageable and can comfortably be done in one day.

You’ll find classic attractions like:

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™
Jurassic World – The Ride
The World-Famous Studio Tour
Super Nintendo World™

And honestly, the Studio Tour is probably the thing that makes this park unique. Where else can you drive through real film sets, see famous movie locations and learn how some of Hollywood’s biggest productions are made?

This is one we would absolutely recommend adding depending on your style of holiday, especially for families, Harry Potter fans, or anyone who has ever dreamed of seeing behind the scenes of Hollywood.

Is Epic Universe Worth Visiting?

In one word... absolutely!

One of the biggest highlights of Hayley's trip was visiting Universal's brand-new Epic Universe, and thanks to a VIP Guide, she experienced the park in the best possible way.

Skipping the queues meant more time enjoying the attractions, with the opportunity to ride favourites more than once. The VIP experience also included reserved lunch seating, expert guidance throughout the day and thoughtful touches such as regular water stops to keep everyone refreshed in the Florida sunshine.

Hayley says that if your budget allows and you want to experience as much as possible in a single day, a VIP Tour is well worth considering.

Alongside Epic Universe, the itinerary included some of Orlando's must-visit attractions, including TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Super Nintendo World, unforgettable character meet-and-greets with Toothless and Olaf, and the spectacular evening fireworks over Cinderella Castle.

For anyone planning an Orlando holiday in 2026, these experiences should definitely be on your list.

There's More to Florida Than Theme Parks

While Orlando is famous for its incredible attractions, Hayley also discovered a different side to Florida during a visit to Westgate River Ranch. Set amongst beautiful countryside, the resort offers everything from traditional camping to luxury glamping in stylish teepees and covered wagons, with views across open landscapes where horses, buffalo and even the occasional alligator can be spotted.

The group enjoyed an exhilarating airboat ride before spending Saturday evening at the ranch's famous rodeo. Full of American tradition, family entertainment and plenty of atmosphere, it was a fantastic reminder that a Florida holiday can offer so much more than rollercoasters.

If you're looking to combine a few days of adventure with some time away from the parks, it's well worth adding to your itinerary.

Where to Stay in Orlando

Choosing the right accommodation can make all the difference to your Florida holiday, and one of the main aims of the trip was to experience exactly what Ocean Florida offers its customers. Hayley toured a wide selection of hotels, resorts and luxury Orlando villas, giving her first-hand knowledge of the accommodation available for families, couples and larger groups.

Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort stood out thanks to its huge range of facilities, including multiple swimming pools, restaurants, shops and spacious two-bedroom villas, making it a fantastic choice for families looking for plenty to do without leaving the resort. The group also spent time exploring the picturesque town of Celebration before checking into spectacular villas at Champions Gate Resort. With private pools, games rooms, cinema rooms and themed children's bedrooms inspired by Disney, Harry Potter, Toy Story and Star Wars, these villas offer families plenty of space to relax after busy park days.

Hayley also visited several of Ocean Florida's most popular villa communities, including Champions Gate, Windsor Island, High Grove, Encore Resort, Reunion Resort and the brand-new Doppio Westside.

The standout properties at Reunion Resort combined luxury with fun. Think immersive cinema rooms, beautifully designed living spaces and themed bedrooms that transport children straight into their favourite films. As Hayley put it, "I can't count how many 'wows' were said!"

For families looking for extra space, privacy and fantastic value, it's easy to see why Orlando villas continue to be one of the most popular accommodation choices.

Things to Do in Orlando Beyond the Theme Parks

After busy days exploring the parks, Orlando offers plenty of entertainment away from the rides.

One of Hayley's favourite evenings was spent at Disney Springs, where live music, unique shops and fantastic restaurants create a lively atmosphere long after the parks have closed.

A visit to Cirque du Soleil's Drawn to Life was a real highlight, while dinner at Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' rounded off the perfect evening.

The group also visited ICON Park, exploring Madame Tussauds Orlando and SEA LIFE Orlando before ending the day with a comedy magic dinner show.

These attractions are ideal for anyone looking to add a little variety to their Orlando itinerary.

Shopping in Orlando

No Florida holiday is complete without a little shopping!

Before flying home, Hayley visited The Mall at Millenia, where Ocean Florida guests receive some fantastic added extras, including a $20 shopping voucher, exclusive discount offers, lunch savings and a complimentary tote bag.

Yes, Vegas has earned its nickname of Sin City th anks to casinos, bright lights and legendary nightlife. Gambling has been legal here since 1931, and you'll struggle to walk through a hotel without passing slot machines.

But that's only one side of the city.

Las Vegas is packed with world-class entertainment, incredible restaurants, family attractions, shopping, day trips and some of the most spectacular scenery you'll find anywhere in the USA.

How Long Should You Spend in Las Vegas?

One of the questions we get asked most is: "How many days do you actually need in Las Vegas?"

Honestly, it depends what you want from your trip.

If you're purely visiting the Strip, three or four nights is perfect.

If you're planning to explore places like the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam or Red Rock Canyon, we'd recommend five to seven nights.

Best Day Trip: Grand Canyon & Hoover Dam

If you're only going to have time for one day trip, make it for the Grand Canyon. It's one of those places that's impossible to appreciate until you're actually standing there. The West Rim is the closest to Las Vegas, taking around two and a half hours to reach, making it ideal for a day trip. The South Rim is further away (around four to five hours), but it's also where many of those famous panoramic photographs are taken.

You can choose to drive yourself or book onto a tour. Sarah chose a small group excursion rather than one of the larger coach tours, and there was only around 8 people on her tour "I loved the smaller group. It felt much more personal, we weren't constantly waiting around, and we had plenty of time at each viewpoint."

Many tours also include a stop at Hoover Dam, giving you the chance to walk across one of America's greatest engineering achievements before heading inside to learn how it all works.

Fancy making the experience even more unforgettable?

Helicopter tours over the Grand Canyon are available too. They're certainly not the cheapest option, but they offer a completely different perspective and really show the sheer scale of the canyon. If you're visiting Hoover Dam independently, you can also book power plant tours through the official Hoover Dam Visitor Centre .

Worth Adding On: Lake Mead

If you're already visiting Hoover Dam, consider spending some time at Lake Mead too. Created when Hoover Dam was built, it's the largest reservoir in the United States by water capacity.

Sarah took a sightseeing cruise here on a separate visit.

"It was lovely seeing Hoover Dam from the water. It's a completely different viewpoint and much quieter than the main visitor areas."

Best Free Experience: Bellagio Fountains

Sometimes the best things in Vegas don't cost a penny. The Bellagio Fountains are one of those experiences you'll probably watch more than once. Every performance is different, with changing music, lighting and choreography throughout the day and evening.

Trust us, you'll tell yourself you'll watch one show...

...and somehow end up standing there again the following night.

Best Iconic Moment: Try Your Hand at Gambling

You can't really talk about Las Vegas without mentioning the casinos. Whether you're a seasoned player or someone who's never placed a bet in their life, there's something undeniably exciting about walking through a casino on the Strip. The sounds, the lights, the atmosphere... it's all part of the Vegas experience.

That doesn't mean you need to spend hundreds of dollars. In fact, plenty of visitors simply set themselves a small budget, have a go on the slot machines or try a table game, and call it a day.

Even if gambling isn't your thing, many of the casinos are worth visiting in their own right. Hotels like the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, The Venetian and Paris Las Vegas are attractions themselves, with incredible architecture, shops, restaurants and entertainment.

After all, you're in Las Vegas... it would almost feel rude not to have a little look!

Best Place to Experience Old Vegas: Fremont Street

If the Strip is modern Las Vegas, Fremont Street is where you'll discover its roots.

This is Old Vegas. Historic casinos. Neon signs. Live music. Street performers. And above it all sits the huge LED canopy that lights up with spectacular shows throughout the evening.

If you're feeling brave, you can even fly above the crowds on the SlotZilla zipline.

Our advice?

Visit the Mob Museum during the afternoon before wandering over to Fremont Street as the sun begins to set.

Best Museum: The Mob Museum

Even if museums aren't usually your thing, we'd still recommend this one.

Housed inside the city's former courthouse, the Mob Museum tells the fascinating story of organised crime, law enforcement and how Las Vegas became the city it is today.

Original courtrooms, interactive exhibits, historic artefacts and real stories make this one of the city's most underrated attractions.

"I honestly thought we'd spend about an hour there... we ended up staying nearly three."

Best Views of Las Vegas:

One thing you'll quickly realise is that Vegas looks completely different from above. There are a few fantastic viewpoints, but Sarah's favourites were:

The High Roller Observation Wheel

A gentle 30-minute rotation with incredible views across the Strip. You can even book happy hour cabins if you're celebrating. Standard tickets usually start from around $30, w hile the famous Happy Half Hour cabins include an open bar throughout the journey. More information found here.

The Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas

Yes... there really is an Eiffel Tower in Vegas. The views across the Bellagio Fountains are fantastic, especially after dark when the Strip comes alive. Just maybe avoid particularly windy days! The observation deck sits 46 storeys above the Strip, offering fantastic views across the Bellagio Fountains, especially after dark.

Best Family-Friendly Attraction: The Adventurdome at Circus Circus

Las Vegas isn't just for adults. One of our favourite family attractions is Adventuredome at Circus Circus.

This five-acre indoor theme park features rollercoasters, family rides, arcade games, mini golf and a 4D theatre, making it ideal if you're travelling with children.

Day passes usually start from aroun d $60, although individual ride tickets are also available.

If you've got older children (or adults who never quite grew up), head to The STRAT.

Its observation deck sits 1,149 feet above Las Vegas and is home to some of the city's most famous thrill rides, including Big Shot, X-Scream and Insanity.

You simply can't visit Las Vegas without stopping at the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign.

Yes, there'll probably be a queue.

Yes, you'll almost certainly spot someone dressed as Elvis.

And yes...

It's absolutely worth doing.

Best Restaurant: Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

It's touristy. But honestly? We love it.

The themed restaurant inspired by Forrest Gump serves generous portions, great cocktails and is simply good fun.

Sometimes holiday meals don't have to be fancy. They just have to make you smile.

Best Evening Entertainment: Cirque du Soleil

Las Vegas is famous for its shows, but if we had to recommend just one style of entertainment, it would be Cirque du Soleil.

There are several productions running throughout the city, each completely different from the last. Whether it's breathtaking acrobatics, storytelling or incredible stage production, they're genuinely unlike anything else. Tickets generally start from around $70, althou gh premium seats can cost considerably more.

Ready for your latest USA instalment as part of our FIFA World Cup 26 series? This week we’re heading to one of the most iconic cities in the world as England prepare to take on Panama on 27th June.

Of course, we’re talking about New York City.

New York doesn’t really need an introduction. Even if you’ve never been, you already know it — you’ve seen it in films, on TV, in adverts, and probably scrolling Instagram at 2am when you start planning trips you haven’t actually booked yet.

Times Square, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, Broadway, yellow taxis everywhere… it’s one of those cities that feels familiar before you even arrive.

But here’s the question we get asked all the time as travel agents:

"When is the best time to visit New York?"

And honestly? It's a difficult one to answer.

Summer in New York is absolutely unreal. Rooftop bars packed, outdoor events everywhere, Central Park in full swing, street performers, long evenings where you lose track of time just wandering around.

But then winter rolls in…

And suddenly New York turns into something else entirely. It’s the New York you've seen in the films.

Christmas lights everywhere. Ice skating in Central Park. Markets in Bryant Park. Fifth Avenue looking like a film set. It’s very “Home Alone 2 energy” if we’re being honest.

So rather than picking a winner, we've decided to do something a little different.

We've put together two perfect three-day itineraries – one for a summer visit and one for a winter city break.

Same New York. Completely different vibe.

Why is New York one of the most visited cities in the world?

Because there really is nowhere quite like it.

One minute you’re in Central Park. Next you’re looking up at skyscrapers that make you feel about 2 inches tall. Then you’re grabbing a hot dog off a street cart because you’re “too busy” to sit down and eat properly.

It’s chaotic, fast-paced, and

completely brilliant.

Where Should You Stay in New York?

Many visitors choose to stay in Manhattan, and it's easy to see why. You'll be within easy reach of some of New York's most famous attractions, including Times Square, Central Park, the Empire State Building and One World Trade Centre.

However, it's worth remembering that Manhattan accommodation can be expensive, particularly during peak periods such as Christmas and New Year.

It's also important to note that visitors staying in New York City hotels will pay additional occupancy taxes and sales taxes, payable to the hotel and can add a noticeable amount to your final bill.

Is it cheaper to stay outside Manhattan?

Absolutely.

In fact, many travellers choose to stay across the river in New Jersey.

“We booked late and Manhattan prices were just ridiculous. Staying in Union City wasn’t a big deal at all. We just got the bus in every day, about 30 minutes, straight into Times Square. Easy.”

3 Days in New York (Winter Itinerary)

Once you’ve sorted your accommodation, it’s time to plan your days.

And luckily, we’ve got the inside scoop to help shape this one.

Our Marketing Manager Carly spent five days in New York over the Christmas period ticking off all the classic sights, and came back slightly obsessed with the city.

It also happens to be a pretty special destination for her personally, as she got engaged while ice skating in Central Park… talk about peak proposal spots.

If you’ve ever watched Home Alone 2, Elf, or any Christmas film set in New York, this itinerary is probably for you.

Day One:

Hop on Hop off Bus, Times Square and Street Food

There’s no easing into New York.

You land, drop your bags, and it’s time to go.

This city doesn’t do slow starts, and the buzz of energy in the festive season basically drags you outside.

First day here, you want to breathe it all in, and what better way to start than with a hop-on hop-off bus?

Not because we think you should sit on it all day, but because it helps you get your bearings and allows you to explore the city at your own pace.

The buses usually have two routes — Uptown and Downtown. If you stayed on non-stop, it typically takes around 90 minutes for the Downtown loop and 75 minutes for Uptown.

But honestly… where’s the fun in seeing it all from a distance?

Get off, feel the rhythm of the streets under your feet, look up, look down, and take it all in properly.

Stop ideas worth considering:

Wall Street and the Financial District (don’t forget the Charging Bull for a bit of luck)
One World Trade Centre and the 9/11 Memorial (powerful, emotional, and something you won’t forget)
Uptown stops including the MET steps (yes, Gossip Girl fans, we see you)

Rather than trying to do every stop, we'd recommend choosing two to four places that interest you most. Big Bus Tour do several ticket options and they can be booked here.

For lunch? You're in New York.

Grab a hot dog or a slice of pizza and keep moving.

Finish your first day in Times Square after dark. No matter how many photos you've seen, nothing really prepares you for seeing it in person.

Day Two:

Central Park, 5th Avenue, and Skyline Views

Pick up a coffee from Dunkin’ and head straight for Central Park.

Central Park in winter is just different. Ice skating, skyline views, horse-drawn carriages, and yes, the occasional proposal happening right in front of you

It gets busy. And we mean busy.

Our advice? Book your skating slot early morning before the crowds fully arrive, you can secure you tickets directly through the Official Wolman Rink Website.

After you’ve spent your morning gliding (or clinging to the side for dear life), take a walk through the park. Think: Snow-dusted paths, frozen lakes, and that feeling like you’re in a film set. it’s exactly what you expect New York to be.

Continue to live out your home Alone dreams and head on past The Plaza Hotel. Just note: unless you’re staying there, you won’t be going inside.

Then it’s Fifth Avenue time.

Even if you’re not planning on shopping, it’s basically illegal to come to New York and skip it. Window displays, decorations, and Macy’s doing what Macy’s does best.

Empire State Building vs Top of the Rock

Finish day two with iconic city skyline views. But should you choose The Empire State Building or Top or the Rock?

You can do both, and many visitors do but it’s worth noting this can be time-consuming and expensive, so you may want to choose just one.

Empire State Building — the classic New York experience. You’re going up one of the most famous skyscrapers in the world, instantly recognisable from countless films and photos.
Top of the Rock — arguably the best skyline view in the city, because you get to see the Empire State Building itself as part of the view.

To go up the Empire State Building, tickets can be purchased online or on arrival. Prices start at around $44 for adults, but increase if you want access to higher floors such as the 86th and 102nd observatories, which cost around $79 for adults.

Top of the Rock observation deck tickets start from around $42 for adults and can be booked here .

Whichever you choose, we guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Then finish your evening at Rockefeller Centre, and get a photo beneath the famous Christmas tree. For dinner, head to Rolf’s German Restaurant , it’s extremely decorated and over the top for Christmas. BUT, it is hard to get a reservation, if you are here over the holidays made sure you book well in advance.

Day Three:

Statue of Liberty & Brooklyn

Did you think we were going to let you leave without visiting the lady herself?

Today is an early start.

Begin with a Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island ferry tour. One of New York’s must-do experiences and a huge part of the city’s history.

It takes around half a day if you do it properly, but it’s worth every minute. Stand, discover and bear witness to a complete classic.

Then head across to Brooklyn.

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge.

Explore DUMBO.

Take in those skyline views.

And if you’re visiting in winter, there’s something really special about watching the city light up as the sun starts to set.

Finish your trip with a classic American diner before heading home. exactly what you expect New York to be.

3 Days in New York (Summer Itinerary)

Summer in New York hits differently.

The city feels louder, busier, more alive, like everyone has just collectively decided to stay outside until midnight for no real reason.

Rooftop bars are packed, parks are full, street performers are everywhere, and there’s this constant feeling that something is happening just around the corner.

If winter is “Home Alone 2 New York”… summer is “you’re definitely walking 20,000 steps without planning it.”

Day One:

Manhattan in the Summer

You’ve landed, dropped your bags, and there’s really only one rule for summer New York: get outside immediately.

A hop-on hop-off bus is still a great way to get your bearings on day one, but in summer, think of it more as a starter, not the main event.

Summer Highlight: The High Line

This is where summer really starts to shine. The High Line is an elevated park built on an old railway line, running through the West Side with greenery, art installations and skyline views. It’s one of those walks where you go:

“we’ll just do 10 minutes…”

…and somehow end up walking the whole thing.

For lunch?

You’re still in New York.

Grab a street hot dog, a slice of pizza, or something you’ll eat while walking because sitting down feels like a waste of time.

Day Two:

Central Park

Day two is still reserved for Central Park, but Central park in the summer is a completely different park then it is in the winter. Prepare to see people rowing on the lake, runners EVERYWHERE, picnics upon picnics and street performers scattered throughout.

You can walk, cycle, or just sit and do absolutely nothing for a while, which is rare in New York.

Then explore Midtown, including Fifth Avenue, Bryant Park and Macy's.

As evening approaches, it's time for a skyline view.

Whether that's the Empire State Building, Top of the Rock or a rooftop bar is entirely up to you. One thing New York does exceptionally well in summer is rooftop dining.

Watching the sun set behind the Manhattan skyline is one of those experiences you'll remember long after you've returned home.

Day Three:

Statue of Liberty & Brooklyn

Some things stay the same regardless of season.

The Statue of Liberty remains one of New York's must-see attractions.

After your ferry tour, head back towards Brooklyn. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge, explore DUMBO and spend some time at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

In summer, this area is perfect for relaxing by the water and watching the Manhattan skyline light up as evening arrives.

If you have extra time, consider heading to Williamsburg for food, nightlife and a slightly different side of New York you'll remember long after you've returned home.

Extra: Catch a Sports Game

Even if you're not a huge sports fan, we'd highly recommend experiencing American sport while you're in New York.

Whether it's baseball, football or basketball, the atmosphere is completely different to what many UK visitors expect.

The giant screens, entertainment, food and crowd experience make it an event in itself.

Verdict: Is New York Better in Summer or Winter?

Honestly?

It depends what you want.

If you've always dreamed of Christmas markets, festive lights and ice skating beneath skyscrapers - winter wins.

If you'd rather explore rooftop bars, outdoor parks, waterfront walks and long summer evenings - summer takes the crown.

The reality is that New York is one of those rare destinations that genuinely feels special all year round.

Rooftop Drinks & Easy Evenings

One of the biggest additions is St Andrew’s Rooftop Bar, and it’s exactly what the hotel was missing.

It’s got panoramic views over the coastline and is the kind of place you’ll naturally end up at sunset without really planning to. The atmosphere is relaxed rather than formal, which suits the hotel perfectly.

There are still plenty of other spots to mix things up depending on your mood:

The Garden Bar is ideal for daytime drinks and light lunches
The VIP Bar feels a bit more tucked away and great for cocktails
The Lounge Bar hosts live music on selected evenings without it ever feeling over the top
And there’s even a Sports Bar if you fancy something more low-key

Food & Drink: Plenty of Choice

Food is a big part of the experience here, and you’re definitely not short of options.

Estia, the main buffet restaurant, is where you’ll have breakfast and plenty of evening meals if you choose to. It’s one of the better buffets we’ve seen — lots of variety, fresh cooking stations, and (importantly) really good desserts. You can sit inside or out, which is always a bonus.

Kymata is the seafront restaurant and probably one of the nicest spots in the hotel. It’s a bit more laid back during the day, then in the evening it turns into a lovely setting for Mediterranean dishes right by the water.

There’s also an à la carte restaurant for something a bit more special. Carly went for seafood to start and steak for the main, and said it was one of the best meals of the trip.

There’s usually some light entertainment in the evenings too — think singers and musicians rather than anything too lively — which just adds to the atmosphere without taking over.

Pool, Spa & Slowing Down

The pool area is one of those places that just works, whether you’re there during the day or in the evening.

(Did you get the right answer?).

Now, we could have written another generic "Top 10 Things To Do In Boston" article. But let's be honest, you've probably already seen hundreds of those. Most of them recommend the same attractions, the same restaurants, and somehow all sound suspiciously similar (ChatGPT, dare we say it?).

However, we’re travel agents, our literal job is to know these places inside out, and what better than with someone who has firsthand experience of this city. We sat down with our General Manager, Andrew, who's visited Boston several times over the years, and asked him one simple question:

Q "If you only had three days in Boston, what would you do?"

His answer?

A: "A lot of walking, a lot of eating, a lot of drinking... and a bit of history along the way."

Sounds like our kind of city. So, we've taken all of his advice and turned it into the perfect three-day Boston itinerary.

Why Holiday in Boston?

Before we jump into the itinerary, let's talk about why Boston should be on your travel list in the first place.

Boston is the capital of Massachusetts and serves as both the cultural and financial centre of New England. While it might not be America's oldest city, it's packed with history and played a major role in the American Revolution. It's also home to some of the world's most prestigious universities, including Harvard and MIT.

✔️Academia? Check.

✔️Sports? Absolutely.

Not only is England playing Ghana here during FIFA World Cup 26, but Boston is also home to Fenway Park. Even if you've never watched a baseball game in your life, chances are you've heard of this iconic stadium and the Boston Red Sox.

Simply put, Boston has character. You can walk much of the city, stumble across places that helped shape American history, and then finish the day with a pint in a tavern that's older than some countries.

Whether you're visiting during FIFA World Cup 26, planning a city break, or simply wondering what to do in Boston, our General Manager's personal recommendations cover the city's best history, food, sports, and nightlife experiences.

Boston, 3 Day Itineray (At a Glance)

Day One:

Freedom Trail, Historic Taverns & Boston's Best Clam Chowder

Q: What is the best way to start a trip to Boston? A: "The Freedom Trail. Every single time."

The Freedom Trail is one of Boston's most famous attractions, and for good reason. This 2.5-mile route takes you through some of the most important sites in American history, including Paul Revere's House, Faneuil Hall, Old State House and Old North Church

Even if history isn't normally your thing, there's something special about walking through the streets where the American Revolution began.

You can book a guided tour through the Freedom Trail website , or simply follow the route yourself. The entire trail is a public walking route and is marked by a distinctive red line running through the city, just look down at your feet – it’s pretty difficult to get lost.

But the Freedom Trail isn't just about history.

It's also one of the best ways to discover Boston's craft ale scene which is almost as historic as the American Revolution itself (ok not quite, but a bit of artistic licence from us there), but it's still deeply woven into the city's culture.

Two of Andrew's favourite stops were Warren Tavern and Green Dragon Tavern. Both are packed with character and feel like the kind of places where stories have been told over a pint for centuries.

Boston's Famous Clam Chowder

Q: What food is Boston famous for? A: Boston is famous for seafood, especially it’s New England clam chowder.

And, in his own words “You Can't Leave Boston Without Trying Clam Chowder” (This is apparently a non-negotiable). It's a rich, creamy soup packed with potatoes, onions and clams.

So naturally we asked: "Where's the best place to get clam chowder in Boston?" The answer came back immediately.... A: “Union Oyster House”.

It’s one of the oldest restaurants in the United States and has been serving clam chowder since the 1800s. Safe to say they've had a bit of time to perfect the recipe.

Whether you're a seafood fan or not, this is one of those classic Boston experiences that's worth doing.

Day Two:

H arvard in the Morning, Fenway in the Afternoon

We may not have had the grades to get into Harvard, but we can absolutely visit.

The campus is open to the public year-round and gives visitors the chance to explore one of the world's most famous universities.

Harvard is located across the river in Cambridge, and there's something about the atmosphere here that's completely different from Downtown Boston. Students rushing between classes, independent cafés, bookshops, street performers and plenty of places to grab lunch.

Even if you've never stepped foot inside a university since graduation day, Harvard Yard is worth exploring. You can even book an official tour if you'd like to learn more about the university's history and traditions though their website ( https://www.harvard.edu/visit/tours/ ). It's one of those places you've heard about your entire life, and seeing it in person is surprisingly impressive.

Our recommendation? Spend the morning wandering around Harvard Yard, grab lunch in Harvard Square, and enjoy a slower pace before heading back into the city.

Fenway Park

When it comes to sport, our General Manager knows his stuff, and trust us when we say he is a sports fan. You do not want to see him after an Aston Villa defeat.

Whilst baseball might not be as familiar to us as football back home, Fenway Park is one of those sporting venues that transcends the sport itself. It's the kind of place sports fans simply need to experience.

Home to the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park is one of the most iconic sporting venues in the United States.

We may not be total sports fans so we asked Q: Is Fenway Park worth visiting if you’re not a baseball fan? A: “Yes — absolutely.

Fenway Park is home to the Boston Red Sox and is one of the most iconic sports stadiums in the world.”

Even if you don’t follow baseball, the stadium tour gives you access to decades of stories, traditions, and sports history.

You can book on your tour through MLB ( https://www.mlb.com/redsox/ballpark/tours ) and the tour costs around $32 (including fees) for adults and $21 for Children, though if you are in a rush you can do the express 15 minute tour for $20.

The surrounding Fenway neighbourhood is also a brilliant place to spend an afternoon or evening, with plenty of bars, restaurants and game-day atmosphere.

And if you're lucky enough to catch a game while you're there?

Even better.

Boston Sports

One thing our General Manager kept coming back to was the atmosphere around Boston sport.

"Boston sports have a different feeling compared to other cities."

Maybe it's the history.

Maybe it's the success.

Maybe it's the fans.

Whatever it is, whether you're watching the Red Sox at Fenway Park or catching a basketball game at TD Garden, there's an energy that's hard to describe until you've experienced it yourself.

Day Three:

JFK Library & Sam Adams Brewery

This might be the most underrated day on the itinerary.

When most visitors think of Boston, they immediately focus on Downtown, Fenway and the Freedom Trail.

But one of our General Manager's favourite experiences sits slightly outside the usual tourist trail.

"A personal favourite of mine has to be the JFK Presidential Library."

Q: Is the JFK Library worth visiting in Boston? A: Yes — even if you’re not a politics fan.

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library sits overlooking Boston Harbor and offers one of the most impressive presidential exhibitions in the United States.”

The museum explores JFK's life, presidency and legacy through interactive exhibits, photographs and original artefacts.

Even visitors with only a passing interest in politics often leave surprised by how much they enjoyed it.

Sam Adams Brewery Tour

And now for the important part.

Beer.

Q: What is the best brewery tour in Boston? A: "My favourite experience in Boston was probably the Sam Adams Brewery Tour."

Strong praise considering how much Boston has to offer.

Then again, we know our General Manager pretty well. Alongside his love of sport is his appreciation for a proper ale.

And for someone who knows his IPAs, Boston is a fantastic city to visit. The area played a significant role in the American craft beer movement and helped popularise the now-famous New England IPA style.

Samuel Adams arguably put Boston on the beer map back in 1985.

Today, the brewery offers a variety of tours and tasting sessions throughout the year, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about the brewing process while sampling some of their latest releases.

You can book on your tours on their website . But, just remember if you are bringing the children or the grown up children, the legal drinking age in America is 21, so under 21s are not allowed inside.

A 45 minute Sam Signature experience is only $15, or go all out with the behind the scenes experience for $50. For anyone who enjoys craft beer, it's an easy addition to the itinerary.

And for everyone else?

Well... it's still beer.

The beach most commonly associated with Miami? Yep, Miami Beach. But here’s a little fun fact for you — did you know Miami Beach is actually its own separate municipality?

Sitting just across Biscayne Bay from mainland Miami, it takes around 25 minutes to get here by car.

The beach itself stretches for 9 miles and is split into North Beach, Mid Beach and South Beach. South Beach is by far the most famous stretch, known for its pastel Art Deco buildings, buzzing atmosphere, and postcard-perfect shoreline. South Beach is also perfect for people-watching. Grab a drink somewhere along Ocean Drive and just sit back for an hour, honestly, you could spend all day watching the world go by. But if you prefer things a little quieter, head further north where the pace slows right down.

From here, head on into to Little Havana, the cultural heart of Miami.

Walk down Calle Ocho, stop by Domino Park, and watch locals gather for games, music, and conversation. Grab a Cuban coffee from a local café and take your time exploring the neighbourhood. And, we mean exploring. Just get lost, this area is all about atmosphere. It’s about the music spilling into the streets, the murals on every corner, and food that tells the story of the city.

Optional Extra: Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

If you’ve got extra time in Miami or fancy something a little more relaxed, head to the beautiful Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in South Miami.

1. South Africa

Ok, we need to start with the big one, and South Africa is definitely that. Imagine canvassing through Kruger National Park where the Big Five are literally your neighbours!

Or head over to Cape Winelands for a bit of world-class wine tasting. You can even spot penguins at Boulders Beach or get stuck into an adventure at the Blyde River Canyon.

Top Tip For Safari Holidays:

Patience is a virtue. We’ve all watched the David Attenborough documentaries, but remember those cameramen sit there for days to get that one shot. Safaris are all about the wait. But looking out at the bush and spotting prey from a distance is one of the most "out of body" experiences you’ll ever have.

2. Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is a total classic for a reason. It’s big, it’s loud, and honestly, it makes you feel tiny in the best way possible.

This is nature at its most powerful.

Liz, from our head office is obsessed with this one and reckons this is the trip she is absolutely must do this year!

Top Tip for Niagara Falls:

Try and catch the falls at night; they light them up in all sorts of colours and it makes the whole place look like a film set.

3. Australia

Who’s up for a road trip? The Land Down Under is massive, wild, and best seen from behind the wheel.

A campervan trip through Oz is just incredible.

Picture this: sleeping under the stars, hitting the road at your own pace, and stopping at those random spots that weren't even on the itinerary. Our travel agent Natasha S (we have two!) is currently manifesting this one.

Top tip for campervanning through Australia:

Go with the flow. Aussies are dead carefree, so take a leaf out of their book. Yes, do your research and chat with us to get the basics sorted, but leave room for the unexpected. Australia is full of hidden gems you only find when you’re actually on the road. It’s a second home for our marketer Carly, so if you need the inside track on the different states, we’ve got you covered.

4. Canada and The Rockies

If your dreaming of mountains that don’t even look real, this is it. The water in the lakes is such a bright, electric blue it looks it belongs on an Instagram filter. It’s the ultimate place to just get back to nature and breathe.

Our Marketing Executive Carly is dying to do the Rocky Mountaineer train! (The best way to see the views without having to worry about the driving).

Top Tip for the Rockies:

Set the alarm. No one wants an early start on holiday, but if you want to see Lake Louise without a thousand other people in your shot, you’ve got to be there at sunrise. Plus, that’s when you’re most likely to spot a bear or some elk by the roadside.

5. New Orleans

NOLA is just... cool. There’s no other way to put it. You’ve got live music on every corner, incredible food, and a bit of a spooky, haunted history that gives the city so much character.

If you want a city break with actual soul, this is your spot. Sarah, our Operations Manager, is determined that she will get to New Orleans for Halloween… and we suppose, what better time to explore this city?

Top tip for seeing New Orleans like a local:

Head to Frenchmen Street for the proper local jazz, it’s got the vibe, it’s got the character and it feels like you have stepped away from the tourist traps on Bourbon Street. Though, we would still be sneaking a peak at what Bourbon Street had to offer.

6. Vietnam

Ok, we’ve given you nature, we’ve given you cities, but hands up if you dream of emerald waters and bustling night markets like our Sales Manager Helen? If so, then you are dreaming about South East Asia.

Vietnam is chaotic, busy, and totally brilliant. One minute you’re navigating the scooter-filled streets of Hanoi, the next you’re kayaking through the limestone pillars of Ha Long Bay. It’s cheap, it’s stunning, and the street food is a solid 10/10.

Top Tip: Arrive early (6am is your best bet, so set that alarm!). Experience the atmosphere, the noise, and the colour before the heat of the day kicks in.

We’ve been conditioned to think that the faster we get somewhere, the more "holiday" we have. We wake up at 3:00 AM, navigate the fluorescent-lit chaos of airport security, and spend hours in a cramped seat just to "save time."

But by the time we actually hit the beach or the mountains, we’re so frazzled we spend the first two days just trying to remember how to relax!

What if the travel itself became the experience? Imagine exploring the whole of Italy or the Canadian Rockies stress-free—no maps, no city traffic, and no white-knuckling the steering wheel thinking, "I need a holiday to recover from this holiday."

It includes the Great Barrier Reef, the iridescent Whitsundays, and the oldest rainforest in the world—the Daintree.

Best Time to Visit: April – September (Dry Season). This is the best time for the tropical north (Cairns/Daintree/Reef) as the weather is sunny, less humid, and there are no marine stingers.

Victoria: Coffee, Culture, & The Great Ocean Road.

Melbourne is the heart of this region, and it’s a city that lives and breathes art, sport, and amazing coffee. Victoria is the state of the Great Ocean Road, a road trip that sweeps past coastal routes, dramatic cliffs, and waterfalls that look like they belong on a postcard.

Top tip— continue past the Great Ocean Road to make a stop in Mount Gambier (in South Australia) and marvel at the Umpherston Sinkhole believe us, this is a detour well worth it.

The Vibe: Buzzing cultural hubs blended with dramatic natural wonders.

Our Insider Tip: The Great Ocean Road has to be on your to do list, but also make time for Melbourne’s hidden laneways, world-class dining, and a visit to the charming wine regions.

Hidden Gem: Wilsons Promontory (Wilsons Prom). Campers and hikers will go mad for this. Think stunning scenery, mountains next to the beach, and a paradise for birdwatching.

Best Time to Visit: November – March (Summer) This state is known as the state of 4 seasons in one day. Summer is your best bet to catch as many rays as possible.

Western Australia: The Wild Wild West

Ready to go off-grid and see something truly unique? It would be hard to explain just how much WA has to offer, but we’ll give it a go.

Western Australia is a painter’s muse. You have burnt orange landscapes meeting turquoise waters in Broome, dusty yellow limestone foundations as far as the eye can see in the Pinnacles Desert, and the endless greenery in the pine forests of Margaret River. You also have Pink Lakes that look like you’ve added an Instagram filter across the south of this state.

The Vibe: Untouched beaches, rugged outback, and a feeling of immense scale.

Our Insider Tip: Swim with whale sharks (truly unforgettable!), marvel at the pink lakes, and discover the premium wineries near Perth. It’s wonderfully different and offers spectacular nature.

Hidden Gem: Make a stop in Coral Bay, on the Ningaloo reef and walk up the beach a little to spot baby sharks call their nursery—you can even get in the water with them (they’re not dangerous yet!). The spot is called Bill’s Bay, but let’s keep this secret place a secret a little longer.

Best Time to Visit: Perth and the south are lovely, and it’s a perfect time for swimming with whale sharks on the Ningaloo Reef.

South Australia: Wine, Wildlife, and Wide-Open Spaces

South Australia is sophisticated, relaxed, and a haven for wine lovers and animal enthusiasts. You have winery after winery, and they are so easy to get to.

South Australia is also famous for driving along the beach, spotting Koalas in their natural habitat and the must visit Kangaroo Island.

The Vibe: World-class wineries and abundant, protected wildlife.

Our Insider Tip: Make sure to include Kangaroo Island on your trip—it’s a wildlife sanctuary where you can see animals in their natural habitat.

Tasmania: Wilderness That Rivals New Zealand

A small island with a huge personality! Tasmania is a paradise for nature lovers, hikers, and those just brave enough to conquer Cradle Mountain. One of our agents did this and quote, "it’s not for the faint-hearted."

The state is full of national parks, check out the views at Wineglass Bay, the colourful rocks at Bay of Fires, or the wombats at Maria Island. This state may be tiny, but it’s mighty.

The Vibe: Dramatic national parks, pristine coastlines, and incredible local produce.

Hidden Gem: In the north of the island lies the town of Stanley. This is not on the typical tourist road trip, but this town has a history and a culture that steals your heart. It was also the filming spot for The Light Between Oceans.

Best Time to Visit: November – February (Summer) for the best hiking weather, or if you are looking for snow, this place transforms in June-September.

Northern Territory: Channel Your Inner Attenborough

This is the place to connect with the ancient Indigenous culture and the powerful, rugged landscapes of the Outback.

Look out for the rock with the fossil of the now-extinct Tasmanian tiger in Kakadu National Park, see crocs in their natural habitat, and rock art full of long-standing Indigenous stories. This is also the territory of the central heart of Australia— Uluru . Now, when we say it glows at sunset, this is not a metaphor, trust us, you have to see it to believe it. The light hits the rock in such a way that it changes from an almost boring brown to a very vibrant red.

The Vibe: Red desert landscapes and profound natural icons.

Our Insider Tip : Visits to Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Kakadu National Park are essential. This is Australia at its most powerful and humbling.

Hidden Gem: Mataranka Thermal Pool and Hot Springs. Looking for a dip not to cool off but to feel like you are in a natural spa? Well, this is for you. Beware of the time of the year; you cannot enter these springs in the wet season as crocs like to call this place home!

Best Time to Visit: May – September (Dry Season). Beli eve us, you do not want to be here during the 'build-up' or the wet season (though the lightning strikes are so impressive, a lot of your trip will be delayed).

Australian Capital Territory (Canberra): Relaxed Capital

Often overlooked, but always a pleasant surprise. Canberra is a compact, easy-to-explore city packed with national treasures. It’s the smallest state in Australia but is the political centre.

The Vibe: Culture, museums, and a relaxed, cool-climate city experience.

Our Insider Tip: It’s home to national galleries and Parliament House, plus cool-climate wineries and easy access to nature trails. A great place to pause and absorb the history and culture.

Hidden Gem: Corin Forest if you are here in Winter, this is the spot to ski or sled.

Planning a Disneyland Paris Trip to Davy Crockett Ranch Self Driving from the UK

This self-d rive journey combines the fun of a road trip with the excitement of visiting one of the world’s most famous theme parks, Disneyland Paris! We have chosen to go in November so it combines with my little girls 5th birthday with the added bonus of the Christmas festivities on at the same time.

Best Times to Visit:

· Off-Peak Seasons: If possible, try to plan your trip during off-peak seasons to avoid huge crowds. Mid-January to March, and September to early November are ideal times to visit.

· Weekdays vs. Weekends: Weekdays are typically less crowded, so plan your visit from Monday to Thursday for a smoother experience.

· Special Events: Disneyland Paris has year-round events, but be aware that school holidays (especially summer, Christmas, and Easter) tend to be busy, so if you visit during these times, expect larger crowds.

Ferry from Dover to Calais

To get from the UK to Disneyland Paris, the most common route is to take a ferry from the UK to France. The ferry crossing from Dover (UK) to Calais (France) is the most popular option as it tends to be the cheapest and takes approximately 90 minutes. It’s a great opportunity for the little ones to stretch their legs and have a change of scenery.

If the budget will allow you could opt for the Eurotunnel (Le Shuttle) which only takes 35 minutes from Folkestone.

Accommodation at Disneyland Paris, including tickets in to both parks

If you're planning a trip to Disneyland Paris and want to experience something a little different from the usual hotel stays, then Davy Crockett Ranch offers a unique and magical option. 3. Easy Access to Disneyland Paris Though the ranch is a little farther from the park compared to other Disney hotels, it’s still within a short driving distance. You will also benefit from free parking at the Disney Parks!

4. Unique Theming and Activities The Davy Crockett Ranch experience is steeped in Americana and frontier history. Your cabin will give you a taste of rustic charm, with wood paneling and log-style furnishings. The ranch also offers outdoor activities like cycling, archery, and nature walks, giving you a chance to connect with nature and experience something different than the usual park attractions.

5. Pet-Friendly Options For those traveling with pets, Davy Crockett Ranch is a great option as it offers pet-friendly cabins, allowing your furry friends to join in on the adventure.

When planning your Disneyland Paris trip, there are many extras you can book ahead of time to enhance your experience, ensuring everything goes smoothly and giving you more time to enjoy the magic once you arrive. · Character Dining: If you want to dine with your favourite Disney characters, book a Character Breakfast or Character Dinner. These are offered at various locations such as Auberge de Cendrillon in Disneyland Park and Plaza Gardens Restaurant in Disney Village. These meals fill up quickly, so make sure to reserve your spot in advance.

· Table Service Restaurants: Disneyland Paris has plenty of fantastic table-service restaurants, including the French-inspired Bistrot Chez Rémy, the medieval-themed Auberge de Cendrillon, and the pirate-themed Captain Jack’s. It’s always a good idea to book a reservation for these popular spots to avoid long wait times.

· Buffet Restaurants: For an all-you-can-eat experience, book a spot at one of the buffet restaurants like The Lucky Nugget Saloon or Plaza Gardens Restaurant.

Royal Princess Makeover (For Little Royals)

At Disneyland Paris, you can treat your little one to a Royal Princess Makeover at Maquillage Boutique. Children can get glammed up with their favourite princess look, including hair styling, face painting, and accessories. Some even include a photoshoot which my two little girls would love!

Use the Disneyland Paris App: The official app gives you real-time updates on wait times, show schedules, and park maps. You can also reserve some dining experiences through the app, saving you time on the day of your visit and book the extras above if available.

Hop Into Easter: Family Fun in Rhodes Awaits!

A fantastic family-friendly resort with amazing service, great food, and beautiful surroundings – we can’t wait to go back!

Evenings Full of Entertainment

Every night kicked off with the mini disco for the kids, which was honestly one of the highlights of the trip for our little one. It was followed by evening shows, including live singers, magicians, and something new each night. It was great to have something fun to look forward to after dinner without needing to leave the hotel.

A Morning Walk to Kolymbia & Beach Time

One morning, we decided to get out and explore a bit more, so we took a lovely 25–30 minute walk into Kolymbia. It was such a nice stroll, and once we arrived, we spent some time relaxing on the beach—peaceful, sunny, and a great change of pace. Afterward, we wandered through some of the local shops and beachfront restaurants for a snack and a browse.

If walking isn’t for you, there’s a bus stop right outside the hotel, and you’ll also find a few handy shops and a nearby restaurant just a short walk away.

Little Extras That Make a Big Difference

There are so many thoughtful extras at the hotel, like an on-site supermarket, a mini arcade, and an indoor soft play area for little ones—great for those in-between moments or when the sun gets a bit too strong.

First Impressions & A Warm Welcome

From the moment we arrived, we felt completely taken care of. The welcome at reception was lovely, and the check-in process was smooth and quick. The team even encouraged us to head into the restaurant before it closed while they got our room ready—such a thoughtful touch after a long day of travel!

Poolside Bliss & Waterpark Fun

One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the pool and water areas. The main pool is full of life and laughter—inflatables welcome, which our little one loved! There’s also a more serene ocean-facing pool that’s geared more towards adults (kids are welcome too, but must be supervised), which made for some nice quiet moments.

And of course, we spent loads of time at the on-site waterpark, which is open from 10am–12:30pm and 1:30pm–4pm. There’s a one-hour break in the middle, which is actually great for a bit of downtime. The splash zone is brilliant for younger kids, and the nearby kids’ club, football courts, and tennis courts are easily accessible throughout the day.

We stayed in a Standard Sea View Room, and it was absolutely perfect for our little family of three. The room was bright, clean, and modern with a huge king-size bed, a single bed for our little one, TV, Nespresso coffee machine, fridge, and a super sleek shower-only bathroom.

We had a gorgeous view of the pool and entertainment area from our balcony—perfect for enjoying a quiet coffee in the morning or watching the sunset in the evening. Plus, we were just a short walk from reception and the bar area, which made everything feel so convenient.

The food? Absolutely brilliant!

Lunchtimes were an absolute win thanks to the snack bar by the pool—quick, delicious, and perfect for families on the go. There were plenty of options like pizza, chips, wraps, and Caesar salads—something for everyone.

In the evenings, we dined in the main buffet restaurant. Each night had a different theme, which kept things interesting, and there was even a special kids’ buffet section where children could help themselves—my little boy loved that independence.

We did try to get into the à la carte restaurants, but they were fully booked—so my tip is to download the hotel app and try to book them before you arrive. They looked fantastic and super popular!

Final Thoughts

In short—I’d 100% recommend Atlantica Aegean Blue to any family thinking about a holiday in Rhodes. It was clean, modern, packed with activities, and the staff were wonderful. We felt completely relaxed the whole time, and there was so much for both adults and kids to enjoy.

f you’re anything like me, finding the perfect family break over May half-term can feel like a mission. We wanted sunshine, great food, activities for our 7-year-old, and a little bit of luxury for us too – and I’m so glad to say Grecotel LuxMe Costa Botanica in Corfu delivered all of that and more.

We travelled out on 23rd May 2025, just in time for the Spring Bank Holiday, and spent a full week soaking up the sunshine, incredible food and the most beautiful surroundings.

��‍��‍�� Space, Comfort & Location

We stayed in a Two-Bedroom Family Room with Garden View and Balcony, and honestly – the space was a dream. As a family of three, we had plenty of room to relax, and the central location meant everything was just a short walk away. Pools, restaurants, waterslides – all right on our doorstep, which made life so easy with a child in tow!

�� Little Touches That Made a Big Impression

We arrived quite late in the evening, and one of the first things we were greeted with was a glass of freshly made lemonade – such a thoughtful (and delicious) welcome.

I was honestly surprised by how beautiful the resort grounds are. Everything was in full bloom, and there are even homegrown fruits growing throughout the gardens. The attention to detail is everywhere – you can tell how much care has gone into this resort.

�� Food Glorious Food

We had hoped to try out the à la carte restaurants but couldn’t get booked in. At first, I’ll admit, I was a bit disappointed—but after just one meal at the main buffet, that completely disappeared. The food was incredible – fresh, varied, and beautifully presented.

There was even a daily gyros station, and if you fancied a wander, there’s a beach bar with an ice cream parlour serving Carte D'Or down by the sea. Safe to say our son was in heaven!

�� Fun for Everyone – Kids & Adults Alike

What makes Costa Botanica extra special is how well it caters to both kids and adults. There’s a waterpark onsite, a mini-zoo, children’s cooking classes, evening entertainment, yoga sessions, and watersports. Our little boy loved every second.

There was also waiter service by the beachside pool, which meant we could truly relax while keeping an eye on him having the time of his life.

��️ Local Charm Just Around the Corner

Another bonus? The resort is only a short stroll into Acharavi – a lovely little town with local shops, bars and restaurants. It was perfect for when we fancied a change of scenery without having to venture far.

Would we go back? In a heartbeat.
Grecotel LuxMe Costa Botanica is ideal if you’re a family who likes a bit of everything – from beach days and waterslides to yoga and strolls into town. The setting is beautiful, the service is fantastic, and it ticks all the boxes for a fun, easy, sunshine-filled family escape.
